2018 Campbell House, 29 Palms
The spacious, two-bedroom Campbell Suite is beautifully appointed, and from  the peg and plank original wood floors, to the grand fireplace crafted from local-quarried stone, steeped in history. One of only two guest suites in the Campbell house, it encompasses fully half of the second floor. Cross the threshold into the Campbell Suite at the top of the grand stairway, and down the hallway to discover the master bedroom, where you will find a king bed, and a great sitting area around the fireplace.

The second bedroom is every bit as warm and inviting, with a double bed surrounded by giant windows overlooking the rear gardens and courtyard. So close are the grand palms outside, you'll feel as though you're in a dreamlike treehouse. Your private bathroom is off the suite's entry hall, complete with vintage periwinkle fixtures and tile.

MAGNOLIA SUITE

Majestic and lofty, The Magnolia Suite is one of two private guest accommodations in the Main House. Located near the top of the stairs just inside the historic house, one is struck by the serenity, charm and character of this guest room. Enter through the welcoming living room, large with plenty of plush seating and a stone fireplace that beckons a cool desert evening. Beyond the living room is the bedroom with bright windows overlooking the canopied front gardens. The queen size bed has a needlepoint canopy of its own. Off the bedroom, find your private bath.

"Paradise next to the desert"

"If any hotel I stayed in during my
fifty years of traveling ever deserved
a perfect score this is it! Great location in a perfectly kept oasis, the four nights we spent in our quiet, comfortable and superbly kept "farmhouse" were most memorable."

"Oasis of Quietude"

"As soon as you enter the gate into the grounds of Roughley you sink two or three levels into peaceful relief from the busy world we live in. The two rooms in the main house are spacious and elegant and the cottages give you privacy and even more quiet. The details of the robes and cookies and silver and other collections in fine cabinets add to the richness of the place."

"Luxury near Joshua Tree National Park"

"This week my husband and I made our third trip to Joshua Tree National Park and stayed yet again at the Roughley. And we'll go back again, if for no other reason than because it's such a delight to spend a night at this pretty property. There are lots of trees and flowers on the grounds and place where you can sit outside and enjoy that."

"More than a B & B"

"My husband and I were travelling through the US and spent 2 days at this wonderful spot. We had Sunrise Room which is indeed a little house adjacent to another one but with full privacy. It was very comfortable furnished, with kitchenette and a private veranda. You could sit in diverse places in the shadow under big trees and watch the birds or nice Sam (the dog) or just listen to the wind. Very relaxing. In the morning we got an outstanding breakfast in the garden."
